CREW

Pain of the Macho was based on the monologue from a Latinologues play by Rick Najera, which was also on Broadway in Latinologues directed by Cheech Marin.  It was adopted for a screen in a short film form by Matias Stevens and Lav Bodnaruk and shot by a skeleton crew due to the fact that some of the locations were rather 'tight'. Here is a list of those involved in making this short film:

Lav Bodnaruk - producer, director, screenwriter, editor, sound design

Born and raised in Europe, Lav worked hard to combine the two worlds of cinema through his studies at the film school collage (Griffith University) in Brisbane Australia, developing a strong and unique style of film making. As a graduate he started a production company, Lav Productions, which enabled him to bring a number of projects to the screen, producing/directing dozen short films (16mm and 35mm) most of which he had also shot. Through his company Lav has also produced and shot a number of TVCs currently on air around Australia.

Rick Najera - writer

Rick Najera is an award-winning writer, actor, director & producer with credits in film, TV, theatre & Broadway.  Najera is a true pioneer of comedy and an innovator of humour in the United States, honoured twice by Hispanic Magazine as one of the ‘100 Most Influential Latinos in America. Most notably, his writing credits include LATINOLOGUES™ on Broadway, and groundbreaking television comedies such as MAD TV and In Living Colour...

Paul Seipel – director of photography / camera operator

Paul Seipel is a DP from Brisbane with a number of short films, music video clips and TVCs under his belt. He is an active member of Australian Cinematographer’s Society (ACS) and has been working in the film industry for many years now, starting his way up from a clapper/loader position, through focus pulling and operating to director of photography. Paul has worked on numerous American and Australian feature films in the above mentioned positions.

Michael Mier - 1st AD / Stills

Born in Cairns Michael was drawn to the creativity of film through his love of painting and music. A graduate of the Griffith Film School, Michael is well versed in the technical aspects of film making both visual and sound based, allowing him to understand the needs of the crew and cast when scheduling and keeping productions on time.

Pugsley Buzzard – composer

Pugsley originates from Perth Western Australia and has subsequently lived and performed in Melbourne, Sydney and Europe. Pugsley initially learnt the stride style piano from his grandmother and later developed it studying with various teachers including Russell Holmes of the West Australian Conservatorium of Music. Pugsley has composed sound tracks for film and theatre, directed and composed for the notorious Gadzooks Music Factory Orchestra. Pugsley’s sound has been compared to Louis Armstrong, Fats Waller, Tom Waits and Captain Beenfheart and his piano stylings draw on influences as diverse as Thelonious Monk, Fats Waller, Chico Marx and Professor Longhair.
